A day in the life of an American Soldier. The personal passages of everything from family life to war.

Aside from the Book

American Soldier says,

I was reading a few headlines that bothered me. Apparently the BTK serial killer is now serving his 10 consecutive life sentences in El Dorado. I am floored that this meat head didn’t get the death sentence. The reasoning my friends……there was no death sentence when he did the murders! So this guy will get to live the rest of his days getting a cot and three squares a day. I think our legal system needs a serious ass kicking. The system is supposed to be blind justice and protect people from being punished wrongly. I think there should be some sort of retroactive procedure in place for fuckers like this.

Vioxx - Oh you are so screwed! The lawsuits are going to be coming in left and right!

No one died in the War today! At least the MSM’s aren’t reporting it. The big news is the missing woman, god rest her soul and NW Airlines staying vigilant in their strike.

I am always amazed how the big wig news stations twist the fate of how the morale and mindset is with this country. You can’t wrench the truth out of these guys. It’s like they are suffering from narcissistic episode that shifts from hour to hour. “Well Bob, I don’t think the war is producing enough heroes’! Fuck them Jim, let’s report about the 40 Year Old Virgin and shit that is interesting!”

Death sentence was too good for him, dude. I think the rest of his life at the mercy of the butt pirates in prison will be good enough. Maybe the inmates will pull a Dahmer, and whach him. Who knows?

As for Vioxx, the group that runs them, Merck, doesn’t think in terms less than a billion dollars. It’d take 1000 lawsuits at $255 mil each to bankrupt those guys.

Hubby thinks slimeball btk won’t last in prison ~ he figures that it won’t take long before he gets the wrong person p.o.’d at him and he’s done for. We’ll see i guess. I think he SHOULD have gotten the death penalty, too ~ I mean, WHO CARES if it was around when the crimes were commited?! It’s around NOW, and for a REASON…. to punish and rid society of > like HIM.

I feel SO SORRY for his now ex-wife and kids…I mean, can you IMAGINE?! That poor woman.

That is so sad about the girl in Philly. For six years I lived in South Jersey, like 15-20 minutes from Philly… so it made it even more personal in a way, if that makes any sense. Ugh…they just interviewed her exboyfriend’s defense attorney on Fox…anyone see that?! What a sleezy lawyer ~ no offense to any lawyers out there, heck, I WORK for lawyers, LOL ~ he kept saying, “Just because the police found him with the body doesn’t mean he killed her.” Well, technically, no, but…DUH!!!!  He swore up & down ever since day one that he had no clue where she was ~ so the police had him tailed, and voila! amazing how he just sorta “accidently” stumbled across her and decided to try to move her…

    *sigh*

  4. Kat in GA Says:

Oh yeah, about the Vioxx thing ~ you are right, they are sooo screwed! That poor widow, though, is still in for a long, hard fight…they are (of course) appealing the verdict. It will be a long, long time before she ever sees any money. :-(

  5. Donna Says:

    AS,
I totally agree that BTK should have gotten the death penalty. I too think that law should be changed so that people who committed crimes years ago can get the death penalty. He even told in detail how he tortured and killed these poor souls. How evil can you get???

Can you imagine how much the taxpayers will be paying to keep him around all those years?? Maybe you guys are right….the inmates may kill him before he dies on his own.

Yeh the Vioxx verdict was good but I’m like Kat…..it will be a long time before the widow sees any money because these giants tend to appeal and then appeal some more.

Hope the MSM changes it’s ways or else they will keep losing viewers left and right!

  6. Meghan Says:

Well at least BTK doesn’t have a chance of getting out. If you want to get really pissed about the legal system you should look up the averages. I believe that the average sentace of a rapist is only 5-6 years. Now wonder people do what they do and think they can get away with it.

  7. Kat in GA Says:

Good point, Meghan. How about that pedophile/murderer guy..can’t remember where the heck he was, but he killed an entire family, except for the little girl shasta. He’d been in and out of jail for child molestation numberous times, and was supposed to be in jail for not reporting or something, but wasn’t…. and look what happend. He should NEVER have been on the streets!

  8. wibubba Says:

I don’t know how a law allowing for the death penalty to be retroactive would stand up under a legal challenge. I don’t know if it would be found to be constitutional.

  9. Kat in GA Says:

I’m sure the lawyers would challenge it for sure.
BUT…it still would be, IMHO, *RIGHT.* At least for cases such as BTK.

OK, it’s 4:50 EST…I have a horrible case of insomnia tonight  (can y’all tell, LOL?!) but I’m going to (try to) sleep now, LOL!!! :???:

The “fun” part will be (trying to) wake up in about 4 hours for church!  :? ??:

    Nitey-night, y’all!

  10. wibubba Says:

    Skip church…it won’t kill ya

    He

  12. ~K Says:

He got away with murder till toda,y he got caught today, he should be tried and sentenced with todays laws. Plain and simple.
Why go back to when the crimes were commited, he didn’t get caught back then.

  13. max in FL Says:

It’s my understanding BTK will have a parole hearing in 40 yrs. Charlie Manson gets reviewed every few years. The BEST reason for the DP.

“He got away with murder till toda,y he got caught today, he should be tried and sentenced with todays laws. Plain and simple.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY. OK, more later…off to church, LOL (need coffee now… LOL). I’ve GOT TO get a local paper today before they are GONE ~ one of our local kids from the National Guard 48th Brigade, who was from my town (loganville) died in Iraq last week. :-( The News Editor did a tribute to him…must have it.

  15. wibubba Says:

Max…I’m not sure if it’s 40 years or 25 years in which he’ll be up for parole. But due to the fact that the judge sentenced him to 10 CONSECUTIVE life terms he’ll never get out. IF he were granted parole (very unlikely) he would begin serving the 2nd life sentence, and so on.

It’s more likely that, as others have suggested, he’ll probably not be celebrating his 2nd anniversary in prison. The prison culture has a unique ability to mete out justice where the judicial system has only handed down a sentence.

  16. American Soldier Says:

He is eligible in 175 years.

  17. Teena Says:

Hello American Soildier, do you remember me? Well, Just stopping by to say Hi. :)

Take good care and god bless!

  18. Wis Dude Says:

BTK - For the record. Dalmer got wacked cause it was his death wish. He was in a prison 40 miles north of where I live. I know a prison guard that worked at that Prison. When he went in, he was high security and segregated. But he insisted on being put in Gen Pop. Once there, it was a matter of time before he got the crow bar treatment. Oh I know the nurse who worked the Med flight that picked him up. He was unrecognizable!

  19. Kat in GA Says:

    Yikes!

  20. Custerfile Says:

I know some folks feel cheated, but it’s the Constitution itself which forbids ex post facto laws — for obviously sound reasons. So there’s no way you can execute somebody for something that didn’t legally merit the death penalty when the crime was committed.

On the bright side, there’s not much the Constitution has to say about hoping that he will be horribly murdered in prison by some other ornament of society…,
