Send a prayer out for Soldier’s Mom and Noah

American Soldier says,

I’ve been following the progress of a fellow soldier and a mom who is awaiting word on her son. Noah is his name and he is part of the 3ID. He was injured by an IED and is now in Germany getting fixed up. His mom is waiting to get word on what they are going to do with him and when/if she can go see him.

I am sure any parent would understand her frustration. So bag and passport ready she is on standby. She does not have a paypal link so I am going to put up a link directly to Soldiers’ Angels. They are going to be assisting her and I would really love to assist in any way I could. So please send any donations to Soldiers’ Angels. The person who has been in contact with Soldier’s Mom is Patti Bader. If you send a donation please add the comment that it is for Soldier’s Mom via Patti Bader.

With any luck Soldier’s Mom will receive the help that she needs in this time of need. Even if the Army pays for the plane ticket, they don’t take care of everything.

The donation link is at the top left on the Soldiers’ Angels site.

Thanks American Soldier for everything you have done for Noah and Carla, and our wonderful country. I have been communicating with Noah’s mom since our son’s deployed to Iraq this year, and she is a truly amazing mom/lady/friend.

  2. American Soldier Says:

It is the least I can do. I swear Noah looks like a person I went to school with named Noah.

  3. ~K Says:

Noah has a smile that could light up a room. Got that from his Mom didn’t he. Thanks for the everything AS. Carla needs the support, and Noah needs as many Angels he can get.

  4. Kat in GA Says:

    Ditto to what ~K said.

  5. Meghan Says:

Has she contacted the VFW? 1-877-839-6446. They often pay for family members to go and be with their loved ones. I was talking to a lady named Diane there and she said they just sent some parents to Germany to be with their son while he is in the hospital. They covered the ticket over and living expenses. Just a thought.

I just could not imagine being in her shoes…

  7. Carrie Fisher Says:

Soldier, please, please, please end a debate between me and my husband. He believes that the american soldier is over there fighting because of oil wars and debates going on and that President Bush is an Oil Tycoon and that his the only reason for sending american troops is to win the war with the oil prices. I continue to believe that Prez has many different factors to weigh in on. #1 the terrorist attacks of 9/11, #2 the backing of all other allied forces #3 the freedom of US and Iraqi citizens and #4 the economy of the US IF we did not have access to the trades from the middle west.

I am totally outraged by the words of Cindy Shaheen and her lack of support for what our soldiers are over there fighting for! Please, tell me what your honest in your heart reason for fighting this war is for, and if you have any other soldiers that could shed some light, because there is no way on earth that I am going to believe that any soldier is over there fighting for oil instead of believing they are fighting for the american dream of freedom for all American’s and the Iraqi’s that we are trying to liberate against terrorism!..Carrie

  8. Kari Says:

    Albatroz,

I hope you’re not one of those who says that they support the troops, but not the war. Your post is an insult to American Soldier and all other military men and women serving our country. It may be their job to serve when and where asked, but Carrie was asking for AS’ opinion of the reason for war. Do you not think AS intelligent enough to have an opinion? It’s obvious that you have strong opinions, what makes you an authority? And why would your opinion (that you state as fact) carry more weight than those who have actually had their boots on the ground in Iraq?

Carrie, I applaud you for seeking information from different sources, not just CNN or The New York Times. You ask good questions and want real answers.

Did you know that two tons of uranium was taken out of Iraq last summer? Did you know that Saddam Hussein paid the families of terrorists $30,000 for attacks against Israel?

Here’s a quote from the President:

“Earlier today, I ordered America’s armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq’s nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors…..The hard fact is that so long as Saddam remains in power, he threatens the well-being of his people, the peace of his region, the security of the world. The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government — a government ready to live in peace with its neighbors, a government that respects the rights of its people. Bringing change in Baghdad will take time and effort. We will strengthen our engagement with the full range of Iraqi opposition forces and work with them effectively and prudently.”

By the way, this is a quote from President Bill Clinton on Dec 16, 1998. You can read the entire speech here: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/middle_east/july-dec98/clinton_12-16.html

If Bush lied, then so did Clinton, Putin, and many other world leaders who all believed Saddam had WMD. Not long after 9/11 but before the start of the War in Iraq, Bush’s critics started pointing fingers at the Bush administration saying that they should have known about 9/11 and prevented it from happening. If world leaders and intelligence agencies around the world confirmed their belief that Iraq was developing WMD and Bush did nothing about it, he would be derelict in his responsibility as leader of the free world. Hindsight makes for real genius and short-term memory loss.

  9. Kari Says:

And one more thing- if the world is a better place with Saddam gone, then I guess President Bush and the U.S. military have made the world a better place. God bless them all.

  10. Jay Says:

Albatroz, I agree that soldiers fight because they are called by their country to fight. Indeed. it is a calling of the highest honor!

In your reply to ‘Carrie’ you omit to say that:

-No President can go to war without the consent of the American Congress
    -This President had that consent
-That this Congress and this President had what is now understood to be deficient ground intelligence is a matter for non-partisan American governance to address, with the American people
-It is therefore NOT ‘Bush’ who is fighting in Iraq, it is the American people, that includes ‘Albatroz’.
-I submit that we do NOT know that Saddam Hussein had NOTHING to do with 9/11. He certainly had, and exercised, sequential aspirations for gain, of one sort or another, in recent memory
-I submit that we have NO irrefutable evidence that he did not support terrorism. He certainly ‘terrorized’ Kuwait did he not?
-I submit that, during the course of the decade or more that he flouted the intentions of the United Nations, he had WMD, per se, or the capability to mass produce them. The evidence for that is the fact that he used WMD in his historic assault on Iran
-I submit that Americans, in general, are not as myopic as Alabatroz and have no desire to submit to the ‘jackboot’ of terrorists who hide behind the veil of Islam.
-The role that oil plays in the equation is certainly important. Iraqi oil was intended to fund the cost of change in that troubled land and the terrorists well know that by frustrating that funding source they frustrate the effort and the will of the American people. Albatroz’ attitude, sadly, plays right into enemy intentions.
Americans everywhere MUST unequivocally support their soldiers. I sure as hell do!!
    GOD BLESS AMERICA

  11. Carrie Fisher Says:

Kari, my husband does not believe that Clinton or any other Prez “ordered America’s armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. **or that** They are joined by British forces. **and that** Their mission is to attack Iraq’s nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.” My husband believes that this is all smoke that the gov’t is blowing up the American People’s ass to make us THINK that our soldiers are over there for a good reason. And thank you for your reply to Albatroz, you were so correct! I wasn’t asking HIS opinion, I want an AS to tell me what HE HIMSELF is over there fighting for! Does not matter that he was ORDERED to go there, I want to hear from an AS what he feels!..Carrie

  12. Kari Says:

Carrie, ask you husband to look at the pictures here and come away with the same notion that Saddam didn’t possess WMD:

    http://www.kdp.pp.se/chemical.html

Albatroz, I am not pro-war. But the awful truth is that as long as there are evil people in this world who are intent on harming and oppressing others, war will exist. The threat to our homeland comes not only as a direct attack, but an insidious exportation of terrorism from abroad and economic manipulation. We have been attacked several times in the last 20 years and did virtually nothing. Our lack of action didn’t make the terrorists/enemies go away and leave us alone. I think to deduce that the war is about oil and filling the gas tanks for our SUV’s is too simplistic. Oil is certainly a factor. Americans use a lot of petroleum. Of course it takes a lot of fuel to sustain what the U.S. does not only within our country, but for the world. Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer wrote:

“The United States provided $2.4 billion — 40 percent of the world total — for global disaster relief assistance in 2004. The U.S. is the largest single contributor to most international organizations, such as the World Bank. And we provide 60 percent of the funding for the World Food Program, the world’s largest distributor of food globally.

We are six percent or less of the world’s population, yet we give almost half. We are a very small number of people, relatively speaking, and we carry the weight of a dozen countries. Secondly, we maintain a military structure that keeps the peace of the world…..Who is in the Indian Ocean with the aircraft carriers, helicopters, skilled personal? No one has the infrastructure in the world, we spend almost half a trillion dollars a year on our military structure, which is essentially the fire department of the planet and it is always at the disposal of people hit in a national disaster…..Incidentally on food aid, we give 60% of all the food aid in the world. It is simply irresponsible to talk about the U.S. as anything other than the most generous nation on the planet.”

The reasons for this war are multi-faceted and the outcome affects the well-being of the entire world.

  13. American Soldier Says:

    Carrie,

I cannot make your husbands mind change if he is set on something. I am nothing more than a mere Soldier in this war. Whether I’m home getting fixed or in the mix of it. I am a Soldier and Soldier’s fight wars.

Let your husband read ‘Another chapter yet written’ post. Maybe he will see that Soldier’s don’t need a reason to fight, we do it because it’s deeply rooted within us to.

    I hope that helps.

  14. Helen Says:

    My prayers are with you..Helen

    American Soldier,

Thank you ever so much for providing the link to Soldiers Angels. I have been a part of that organization for a couple of years now, and it fills my heart to know that I’m making a difference in a Soldier/Sailor/Airman/Marine’s life while deployed to any of the theatres. 17. Jo Says:

My friend’s son, David, was also injured by an IED 23 Aug 2005 in Iraq. He was sent to Germany but now he is at Walter Reed. His mother, father and wife are in D.C. right now with him and I hope he has a speedy recovery. He is in the 3ID from Fort Benning. I just want to say that I think all of the young men and women serving in the miltary are heroes. David says he is not a hero and he doesn’t want to be called one, he was doing his job as a soldier. The soldiers that are in Iraq and Afghanistan are heroes and they are leaving a piece of themselves there but my brother (retired Army) told me last night that even though they leave a piece of themselves there they are gaining a deep love & appreciation for the U.S. My brother’s son served in Afghanistan and Iraq and I see the difference in him. To all American Soldiers, past, present and future I want to say THANK YOU for what you do for us and our country. Thank you for the sacrifices that you and your families make for us. Even though some Americans may not agree with the war, we will support the soldiers who are doing their job and doing it well. To David and all the injured Soldiers I just want to say Hurry Up and Get Well Soon! We Love You!
