A day in the life of an American Soldier. The personal passages of everything from family life to war.

Another chapter yet written

American Soldier says,

Today accompanied by my wife and children I met with my new unit and took the oath of enlistment. The picture above was found on the net. I thought it was significant because the photo are Soldiers re-enlisting at Ziggurat of Ur, a famous archaeological site in Iraq, built around 2100 BC to honor the moon god Nanna.

Just like them, I didn’t need to re-enlist. I did it because in this day and age, where there is so much unpredictability, there needs to be Soldiers who will stand to defend our beloved country and freedoms. No matter if you are a supporter or not, you can count on a Soldier to preserve what many people take for granted. Freedom!

Send a prayer out for Soldier’s Mom and Noah

American Soldier says,

I’ve been following the progress of a fellow soldier and a mom who is awaiting word on her son. Noah is his name and he is part of the 3ID. He was injured by an IED and is now in Germany getting fixed up. His mom is waiting to get word on what they are going to do with him and when/if she can go see him.

I am sure any parent would understand her frustration. So bag and passport ready she is on standby. She does not have a paypal link so I am going to put up a link directly to Soldiers’ Angels. They are going to be assisting her and I would really love to assist in any way I could. So please send any donations to Soldiers’ Angels. The person who has been in contact with Soldier’s Mom is Patti Bader. If you send a donation please add the comment that it is for Soldier’s Mom via Patti Bader.

With any luck Soldier’s Mom will receive the help that she needs in this time of need. Even if the Army pays for the plane ticket, they don’t take care of everything.

The donation link is at the top left on the Soldiers’ Angels site.

Peaceful Breeze

American Soldier says,

There I was in the middle of the night.
The breeze flows over my body like strands of silk.
My mind wanders with thoughts.
The sound of crickets and frogs just outside my window.
How I appreciate the sound of peace.

Where is this life going to take me?
What purpose do I serve?
Have I given all I’ve got?

The mindset quickly changes to love.
Oh how I love to look into my daughter’s dark eyes.
Peeking at me as I awake in the morning sometimes.
Her innocent smile and radiance of love.
Where shall she go in life?

The twist of fates brought me to my wife.
How much life would be different without her.
Life is a strange game that we are subjected to.
Given a life and quickly age to responsibility.

Where does it go from here?
Who shall I meet?
Will I make a difference to the world?

Lessen the thoughts by appreciating what you have.
When life seems tough and all feels lost.
Open a window and let the breeze flow over you.
Then close your eyes and sleep in peace.
All will be revealed tomorrow.
