This poem is dedicated to A.S., once again with many thanks from our family:

“I’ve been blessed with gifts and talents

to be used some special way.

To lend a hand or help someone

    who’s struggling with today.

All it costs is my commitment

    and a little extra caring,

    simply making a priority

    of reaching out and sharing.

I find that when I focus

    on other people’s needs,

    my own desires are fulfilled

    like fruitful, sprouting seeds.

And it’s a privilage working for
the Lord I hold so dear,

    using what He gave me

    each time I volunteer.”

Good for you, AS…. I’m glad your skills will be put to use during this national crisis. I’m envious, actually. I’m in Red Cross, and not able to go help. I wish I could…. but I’m glad you get to.

  8. Donna Says:

    AS,
Thank you for volunteering your services to our people in time of need and from the looks of things on tv, they sure need your help.

Be careful down there because there are alot of hazards but then you were stationed in Iraq and you know all too well of danger!! :???:

You as well as the people of these southern states are in our prayers!! God speed and God Bless you!!

Kick some looter ass, while yer down there, AS. I heard about all the punk looters shooting at rescue crews and such. Some people just need to die, period.

I am so very proud of AS, I can’t tell you. My heart and prayers go out to him and his family. I respect him enormously, and just when I thought I couldn’t respect him anymore, he does this.

Good luck, AS. We at LBF and around the world salute you. We are so very honored to call you part of our LBF family.

Just be careful A.S.. Those poor people are crazy with desperation. Last year I had to leave my home in Virginia because thought the damn would burst and flood my home. I was fortunate, one damn held but across from usin a lower area off the same creek that dam did give out and the destruction, while nothing like down there was total. It was so very frightening to leave our home and know we might come back to “nothing.”

I feel so much pain for those poor poeple down there. This is a tragedy.

Thank you AS for all you and family again are sacrificing. God Bless you!

  12. Sherri Says:

Thank you, God, for American Soldier ~ not only just our blogosphere hero specifically, but ALL of our American soldiers ~ and the countless of thousands of volunteers who are working so hard and so selflessly, and/or donating funds, to help those who have been devestated by this hurricane!

God, I ask that you watch over A.S. as he travels to the depths of the devestation and works to help bring the chaos under control. I pray that you give him extra wisdom, insight, and clarity of mind. Give him the extra strength and stamina he will need, the endurance to keep going. Father, please protect his heart, as I know it will be broken by what he sees while he is there. For those times, God, please comfort him and send some encouragement his way.

Lord, I also ask that you watch over his dear family while he is gone. Please give them an extra measure of grace and peace and strength. Provide for them, encourage them, comfort them also.

God, my heart is full but my words are few…thankfully, you can decipher whatever it is that’s in there, even when I can’t. Thank you, again, for A.S. and all the other heroes out there who are putting themselves in harm’s way (either here or in other countries).

    In Jesus’ Name,
    Amen.

THANK-YOU I actually checked your site because it is blowing me away that I am sitting here, on a barrier Island in the Gulf of Mexico, watching live on TV, seeing fellow Americans right across the Gulf from me die and babies dehydrate..in my own country! Thank-You for doing something about it! I figured I could find some words of wisdom here and better than that I see our heores in action again. It is a helpless feeling to watch this, let us know what in addition to money can help.

    Thank-You

  22. Kat in GA Says:
