Serenity Movie?
American Soldier says,
Am I stuck in the middle of a really weird movie where everyone but me is talking about Serenity? Seems like alot of my Milblog contacts are plugging the shit out of this movie? Did the producers send them money to plug it? To see three of my regular Milblog links plugging this movie, it is making me feel weird.
I feel like chop liver!?
I don’t think it looks like a good movie, but maybe it’s because I’m strange!?

All I saw was the previews, and it looked b-b-b-booooooooring.
I just saw the movie. It is really, really good. Kind of like the original Star Wars trilogy….with better dialogue….
Serenity had a promo where blogs advertised for them and they got to go see the movie for free. They had so many do it they had to stop that promo early…lol
So yeah, they kinda got paid for it.
I have not seen the movie, but am planning sometime this week. Will let you know what I think.
No, you are not weird. I am like that in many ways. A movie has to “call” to me, and then I will go see it. You are just discriminatory on which ones you will waste money on going to see.
If you watched Firefly by Joss Whedon on TV, then this is the movie of the same characters. I never happened to watch Firefly, but it was short-lived. As someone mentioned - they chose to get the word out by inviting bloggers to go see it, and write about it.
I went yesterday - and it is great fun. It is a Indiana Jones and Star Wars type of action flick - with very good writing, a very intriguing premise, and is both tense and funny.

Sci-Fi rocks! If you’re a sci-fi fan or a fan of Firefly, you’ll love the movie.
I like some sci-fi, but am not in big hurry to rush to movies. I can wait until it comes out on DVD for rent.
I just need a certain amount of mindless stuff in wee morning hours.

hey AS- speaking of movies- i saw a commercial today for a movie called “jarhead”, its about the iraq war and seems like it’ll be a little too much like “over there”, just wondering if you’ve seen anything about it and what you think about it. it has jamie foxx in it so who knows how it’ll be.
Well I look forward to seeing it. I think Jamie Foxx is a great actor. I just hope the movie is well written with accurate TEC advisors.

I have pretty much given up on critiquing Over There. It’s just a show now in my eyes.
Went and saw the movie, based on the millblog posts; I’d never seen the Firefly series. I’m a bit of sfi-fi fan, but not fanatical about it. After seeing the movie, I bought the Firefly series on DVD and just finished watching it; definitely felt it was worthwhile.
Primarily, the attraction in Serenity and the Firefly series is the dialog and character interactions, not the sci-fi aspects. Certainly superior in those regards that any recent Star Wars or Star Trek work or spinoffs.
i love Jamie Foxx, especially in Ray. wow, i love that movie.
i’ll probably go see the movie(jarhead), i hope it’s not too “hollywood” and they actually know what they’re talking about, maybe thats what you mean by TEC advisors.. sorry i’m a little bit of a blonde haha
i’ve never actually seen over there- just heard about it and didnt think it would really be worth watching since everyhting about it was negative. but hopefully the movie will be better.
Theres a book called Jarhead by the guy whos the main character in the film. Its about the Gulf war, not the Iraq war. Lol some peeps on here make me lol
