Fox News Interview - For what its worth
American Soldier says,
I won’t be misquoted. Hence no Fox coverage for me. Here is what I said when asked these two questions. It didn’t make it into the story.
Do I think that the troops feel bad that the senate now doubts the case for war?
My whole quote:
“Soldiers in Iraq are there because they are told to go there, they just want to survive and ensure that the soldiers around them come home too. They really don’t give a crap that they didn’t find WMD’s, that is not the emphasis of the war now. We are doing so much for that country like building schools and enabling clean water to flow into towns.”
Their condensed quote:
“Soldiers on the ground don’t give a crap that we didn’t find WMDs — they just want to survive there,”
How do I feel about the Senate shutting down the other day because of the case for war situation?
My whole quote:
“I think they (politicians) have too much time on their hands. They need to really focus on the things that are important like what the soldiers need. Why is it a politician wakes up and says, ‘We have to figure out why did we go into this war?’ At the end of the day, they’re not fighting it, and their children aren’t fighting it”
Their condensed quote:
“Why is it a politician wakes up and says, ‘We have to figure out why did we go into this war?’ At the end of the day, they’re not fighting it, and their children aren’t fighting it.”
~~
No loss of sleep for not making it into the article but these answers I don’t think would of been compatible with any news agency. Again, MSM’s are scared of me. My answers condensed might seem tamed, but get the entire quote in there and oh shit, stop the press! I will refuse to have my quotes taken out of context. You can clearly see how much of a difference my stance can be miscontrued if you don’t see the whole quote.

So typical of journalism’s quest to ‘change the world’. They alter the truth in order to create a story that bares no reflection to reality.
The Press was designed to be a watch-dog over the government but instead, it has turned against the people only to become Big Brother’s Big Eye. The Cultural Establishment is controlled by the very Marxist who gave power to Big Brother Press. We must find ways to get out from under their oppressive thumbs!
It enrages me time and time again that one of the greatest freedoms of this country has become so shameful in its actions. Our Founding Fathers knew how important the Press would be to keep Oppression at bay. Too many reporters have become whining opinionators. Makes my blood boil after all so many have given (soldiers and citizens alike) to keep this a country of freedom. I’m glad you posted your full responses to the questions and I’m sickened that Fox didn’t have the intregrity (or balls) to publish them.
Hey AS,
Don’t feel too bad about it. When talking to the press, you have to learn how to speak in sound bites - get your message across in one line - it’s the only way they know how to work it.
Bravo!
Why the media seems intent on limiting the discourse to a minimum word set is beyond me. I can only assume that it is intentional since their editing never serves to clarify the statement but rather softens or changes the intended spirit completely. Better to be not quoated at all than quoted poorly, and used as a dupe by the media, in their quest to subvert our cause.
Thank you for your service to our country and keep up the good work.
David M.
Ralph,
Sound bytes are one thing, but in making a point, you can only sum it up in so many words sometimes.
AS,
That’s what makes it so difficult sometimes. It takes practice and a lot of experience. Especially with radio and TV reporters.
I just read the article over at Blackfive’s and I’m glad you opted out. If they had printed the excerpts, it would have changed the whole context of what you were saying. Good for you, and thank you for your service and for this blog. You’re a great guy!
Good for you AS! Thanks for sticking to your guns!!! Its Fox News’ loss and we love you regardless! Keep it up.
This same action angers me to no end. And it floors me to know that there are some who believe what they hear word for word. Unfortunately, how we interpret these condensed quotes makes the huge difference. What one says and how it is condensed makes a world of difference. It’s like the solider who sent the letter home speaking of his demise and the media twisting and turning the words to suit them just because that week, they were stuck on 2000 soliders were killed in battle. They used his words to constitute their stories. What a sad world we live in. What happened to the “true word” stories? Now a days, what I watch on the news or read in the newspapers are hardly believeable or in my opinion they are. It seems journalists live and tell their story by what their belief is in polotics instead of just telling it straight forward.
I’m a Mom and I have to say, yes, i’m stuck on the 2,000 killed and the over 15,000 injured. We want you stateside, safe. 6 billion is spent daily on this war, and yet we have to worry, about outdated equipment and if all your needs are met there and the public, here do not trust the news and military reports. In a mom’s view, we want our children home. We are proud, but, realize your safety comes first not, Iraq to us. It’s been 3 year’s.
Lindsay,
The whole point of my post was that instead of telling the people, us americans what is actually going good there, the media is focused on all that goes wrong. Hence the statement of being stuck on 2000 killed. That doesn’t necessarily mean I dont care that the amount is not great but the media insists on keeping a tally as if it’s the presidential polls.
