Leaving on a Jet Plane
American Soldier says,
I’ll post when I can. Until then, here are some lyrics that are near and dear to me. It’s amazing how meaningful songs can be in different seasons of your life.
All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go
I’m standin’ here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbyeBut the dawn is breakin’, it’s early morn
The taxi’s waitin’, he’s blowin’ his horn
Already I’m so lonesome I could dieSo kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you’ll wait for me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go‘Cause I’m leaving on a jet plane
I don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to goThere’s so many times I’ve let you down
So many times I’ve played around
I’ll tell you now, they don’t mean a thingEvery place I go, I think of you
Every song I sing, I sing for you
When I come back I’ll wear your wedding ringSo kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you’ll wait for me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go‘Cause I’m leaving on a jet plane
I don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to goNow the time has come to leave you
One more time, oh, let me kiss you
And close your eyes and I’ll be on my wayDream about the days to come
When I won’t have to leave alone
About the times that I won’t have to say …Oh, kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you’ll wait for me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go‘Cause I’m leaving on a jet plane
I don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to goAnd I’m leaving on a jet plane
I don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to goBut I’m leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)
Leaving on a jet plane
(Ah ah ah ah)

Ditto on the offer of help. Just let everybody know what you need. Tthank you for what you’re doing.
Actually the song was written and originally sang by John Denver who was thrilled when Peter, Paul and Mary later published it.
Have a safe trip back, thank you for all you have done.
stay safe soldier. we’re praying for you.
You have ruined that song for forever. Why did you want to make me cry? (lol) I will be praying for you everday. If you need an uplift, here is a nice site found: Loving God Anonymously. I like it. Just thought I’d share.
(Just in case your site doesn’t take html: http://lovinggodanonymously.blogspot.com)

Godspeed, Soldier.
First time posting a comment here. Saw you through Froggy Ruminations.
Be safe! Thank you for all that you do for our country. I think of you guys all the time. Please submit any guys or gals you know who could use a little support to Soldiersangels.org. We’ll get them adopted, they’ll get some letters and packages, and they will see how much people appreciate their work on our behalf.
Ralph Peters has a great article in the NY Post today, about our military personnel.

Sorry, I see your links now to groups that support soldiers. There are some great ones listed.
Be well.
