A day in the life of an American Soldier. The personal passages of everything from family life to war.

What he’s up to

American Soldier says,

Hello all,

The man, AS, is doing well. Lots of long days in the field. He has proven himself to be very valuable to his unit. He goes out with each mission right out front to sight any possible trouble. So he is right in harms way most of the time. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers. We both feel them strongly.

When he’s not in the field he is now enjoying his X-box 360! As well as great snacks like peanut butter and jelly. It’s the small comforts of home that are really making his day.

Back here at home things are going well. The children are healthy and of course, missing Daddy. Our oldest has made cards for him in class. And our youngest likes to draw pictures for him everyday. I get the chance to write email in the morning. And at night hear back from him. It’s a wonderful feeling.

So as always, Thank you for the thoughts, prayers, and support.

How is his shoulder holding up? Since he didn’t have the surgery, is there a chance he’ll make it worse? Of course, I assume they wouldn’t have medically cleared him if it was any issue at all. But one never knows with the military…I just hope they didn’t rush him - one minute he was about to have surgery and talking about the pain and the seriousness of the injury and then he re-ups and gets deployed. I hope it doesn’t get worse.

It sounds like you are doing a great job with the children - thank you for being so strong. We often forget those who battle on the home front - hats off to you, Mrs. AS

Like Churchill once said “Never have so many owed so much to so few.” God Bless them and their loving families.

  12. David Says:

    Mrs. AS,

You, your family and AS is also not far from my mind. Anything we can do for either you or him, let us know.

As to the Churchill comment, that is so true, except for one difference. Back then, the British people understood the threat that Nazism and Hitler was. Today, not all understand the threat of radical Islam towards freedom.

Isolationism is not dead, the name has changed to the anti-war movement (or the Democratic Party).

Mr AS, I’m with Warthog and David. I pray for you, the kids, and AS. You and your family are amazing. I know that everything is not as ezsy as it seems for you, but you carry on, as does AS. You are an inspiration to others and a beacon in the darkness of war. THANK YOU!!

  14. ~K Says:

Dear American Soldier’s Wife and Family,

It is always a pleasure Mrs. AS, to hear from a military wife. It is my belief that the military should have a range of medals which can be awarded for the wife’s incredible service to her nation while her man is away. She is the anchor for the family and she is a very special breed of person. When ever you talk with other military wives, please pass along just how grateful we are for the wives who help to make it all happen. God bless AS as he defends us and God bless you for all that you do to assist him in his mission to the nation.
