A day in the life of an American Soldier. The personal passages of everything from family life to war.

How things are going

American Soldier says,

Hello All,

I wanted to let you all know how things are going. I have noticed you all stopping by and wishing us well.

AS has been extremely busy since his boots hit the ground. And even now, as I am sure everyone has read in the news, he is even busier. He does have some down time which is spent playing Xbox or watching a movie. We are in touch pretty often. I must say, I do love those 2AM phone calls.

He has been getting packages from home every other week. Lots of goodies to snack on and drawings from the children and other little things. He looks forward to them when he knows they are coming. And we have recieved our first package from him. A few carved figures from stone, a beautiful rug, and some other hand made gifts.

With any luck he should be able to drop a line in the next few days. So drop in to say hi. I know that he does keep up on the site. Posting is just tricky for him.

Thank you all for the prayers. We have felt them on many different occassions.

Mrs. AS

I’ve got great memories of the care packages. Privacy issues are important obviously, but it would be great of blog readers/commenters could put together some of our own and forward them to the guys and gals working so hard for us.

Thanks for the update. I was wondering how he (and you) are doing. Tell him that many are praying for both of you, and both are not far from my mind.

    AS & Readers.
Good to see the update and that you are safe and doing well in spite of the circumstances - prayers continue to be sent your way.

Operation Troop Appreciation has recently surpassed the 10,000 soldiers helped mark - something we never imagined would happen when we started in July 2004. Now, more than ever, our deployed soldiers need your help.

AS if your unit needs a boost, you know how to contact me and we’ll put you guys on our project list.

Readers, there are many soldiers who could use a morale boost - OTA is more than happy to be the vehicle that allows you to do this. Make a donation or if you live near Pittsburgh, PA come to one of our fund raising events.

We were able to help AS with some phone cards and Under Armor brand t-shirt. This is the most requested item from our deployed troops.

God bless you AS, keep the faith and know we’re here if you need us.

I hope all is well on the homefront Mrs. AS. Glad to hear you get to talk to your husband once in a while. I’m sure it’s a morale booster for the both of you. Contrary to the msm, the vast majority of Americans support what AS is doing in our behalf. He is a very brave man, Thank You both for the sacrifices you have made, God Bless America and your Family.

  24. Ken Says:

    Hey-
First off, I pray that AS makes it home safely. Secondly, I would like you to know something about me, and maybe mention it to AS. I am 24 years old and am in the process of joining the U.S. Army. I am excited to serve my country, but I must admit that I am VERY scared of what is going on. Just answer me this: Is it worth it? That is all I need to know.
Thanks and God Bless AS and America

  25. Chad Says:

Ken - Someone much smarter than I said

“The only thing you have to fear is fear itself.”

I think you should battle these demons, BEFORE signing up. It’s best to go into the military with complete confidence. Know that you can handle whatever will be tossed at you.

  26. Kat in GA Says:

Hey there AS - just poppin by to say hi - you are in our prayers.

Thankyou for the job you are doing. We will be praying for your injuries. As some one who spent 18 yr. in Colombia and saw the destruction that terrorism causes , the statement “fight them there rather than fight them here” is the right course of action. There are many more Patriotic Americans out there than the media wants you to believe who appreciate your sacrifice. May God bless your for your sacrifice. Tim crowe
