Epiphany
American Soldier says,
A man will find his true self during the most conflicted, tested and low points of his life. That’s my philosophy. I can attest to this because for a long time I wasn’t sure who I was or what my purpose is in this life. I’ve been around the world, became a family man, seen the miracle of birth, been to war, written a book, etc, etc. In all of this I never really knew what my purpose was. I guess all these experiences have led me on the right path but never truly revealing my purpose. I woke up today with a different outlook. In a place foreign to my normal surroundings but very similar in many ways.
Can a person truly go through life and never figure it out? That would be a crying shame wouldn’t it? In my case I can say that I have realized the splendors of life and found it at a tender age. Although many more experiences lay ahead I am enlightened.
The things that make me happy and move me emotionally can be appreciate a little better. This life will throw you curve balls and what are you going to do? You have to hit the ball sooner of later.
Right now I am taking my turn at bat. The game is in the early innings and I’m feeling real good about this next pitch.

Maybe no one has a specific purpose. If we knew what it was, we would never take the time to experience ‘Life’.
Strength is not found in a purpose, it is found in the acheivments you have accomplished, the people who’s lives you have touched, and for your children, who’s life you gave.
The purpose in life is to experience it.
And the innings keep coming.
Good to hear from ya.
AS,
It is my belief that all of us are guided by some unknown force that places us where we must be to become what we are intended to be. To go contrary to this force is to be ill at ease and discontented. Not every step is the right one, but if we listen closely, we will travel the right path. To be on the right path does not mean we know where we are going or how to get there. It does not mean that we are not indecisive, scared at times, or confident. Our only knowledge is in the past, the future is yet unlearned. What wonderful discoveries about ourselves lie in our tomorrows.

The lesson is always in the journey…
God Bless. I KNOW HE will keep leading you in the right path. Keep the faith brother.
You keep swinging that bat!! That’s what it’s there for ~ because someone will always be pitching.
Good to hear from you again!
What, so everyone here that beleives in God, thinks that he’s on your side? Yet the terrorists think exactly the same thing? Israel beleives God is on their side, yet maybe, if their is God, he’s sjut sitting abck and laughing out loud. Cos tbh, humanity is a joke.
As for figuring life out. 42.
But scientiss always disagree with “42″ and say its to reproduce. We’re all animals, killing eachother, suriving etc, and just becuase we have a heightned sense of being, doesnt meen that their is a God. Don;t see monkeys or Elephants rolling out prayer mats or going church on a sunday. We all spawned from the same things, jsut “appeared”. In the end life does take a cruve ball, drop the bat and catch it AS, and take control.

Just when I think I have it figured out…well
I am glad you have figured it out! Sometimes life feels like a cruel joke other times it feels like I have been given a little piece of heaven.
I do believe it is the journey and my how quick it goes, so savor every minute of it.
yessssss
Sounds like you’re really getting “back into the game”, AS. I see life as a journey with many forks in the road. Sometimes you back-track as you change your mind, and sometimes you just plow right through the storm. No matter what, the purpose is out there. We are all so many things at one time- a parent, a spouse, an employee, and in some cases, a warrior. Pulling it all together is a huge task, but ever so rewarding!
AS, glad to see you writing. Yes, curve balls do show up; they will always show up, usually when least expected.
Yes, you will swing at a curve ball, and miss now and again. However, if that happens; don’t quit. Keep on looking for that ball, and swing at it.
Glad to see some optimism in your post. You have so much in your life; a loving wife, a new child, and solid friends. You could do a whole lot worse than that.
So, keep your head up. Keep your eye on the ball. Keep your mind on what is really important in life. That way, you will hit that curve ball and knock it out of the park.
Hi AS. Stopping by to say
HAPPY 4th to you and yours.
Enjoy the day Soldier. It is people such as yourself who has helped make it happen. For that I thank you.
I’ve been reading your blog for a while now, and just dropped by to wish you a happy 4th.
And, swing away, soldier! I’m looking for a home run, but a base hit’ll do. Sounds like you’ve got good people batting behind you.
A Belated Happy 4th of July AS!!

Happy 4th, one day late!
In one of my darkest moments I asked, why me? Why is my life so hard now. The answer puxzled me for a while until I got it! “You just existed before. Now you are taking charge of your life! One day I got up to bat and aaI realized, I didn’t care if I hit a home run or struck out as long as I did my best and remembered it was just a game. From that point on for me, I felt like the blinders had been removed and I saw the sky clearly for the first time.
Epiphany,AS? Yes it is! It is a lot like seeing your first real sunset!

AS - two steps forward and one step back. That’s life. I’m glad to see you’re becoming a bit more comfortable in your own skin again. My best to your wife and kids.
I’m with Tab, the lessons are in the journey. I think the “trick” is to embrace everything life throws at you…good, bad or whatever…and live life to the best of your abilities. As a wise friend once told me, our time on Earth is not a dress rehersal.
Glad to read you are in a better place, keep yourself in the game!
God bless you and yours, AS.
