Milblog Conference 2007
American Soldier says,
My wife and I went to the reception party on Friday and met so many great people. I was sort of incognito. We got a chance to meet Mr. Stokely, AFSister, JR & Josie Salzman, Matty Burden, Andi, Sean ‘Doc’ Dustman & wife, Bill Roggio, Michael Fumento, ‘Bob’, just to name a few. We mingled until they finally kicked us out of the area. I really appreciate Andi for putting this all together. It’s nice to put faces to names. I avoided the media at all costs. Just not ready to make that leap yet.
My wife and I are actually getting ready to leave for the actual conference this morning, so I must go.

Excuse me, just WHO are:
Mr. Stokely, AFSister, JR & Josie Salzman, Matty Burden, Andi, Sean ‘Doc’ Dustman & wife, Bill Roggio, Michael Fumento, ‘Bob’
Are these “high society” people? Are these Blacks or Sports Pdeople - or Show people that make their money - thousands of $’s at one go, for one Showing?
I don’t know these people - and I DON’T care.
But am I supposed to be impressed?
And if you say, I’m a country bumpkin, am I supposed to care?
Plse speak about lmore relevant things to people!
Well excuse me, but;
Even if AS would have thanked everybody listed in his telephone-book, this is HIS web-site!!!! (Meaning, he doesn’t have any obligations towards you “demanding” relevant info.)
As, I’m so glad both of you were able to attend! Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend in person, but watched Mudville Gazette’s feed. I hope you are enjoying the weekend!
a latina, I doubt you are supposed to be impressed. The people mentioned are bloggers (in no particular order…supporters wounded soldier and his wife, spouse of active duty, active duty and vets to name a few). You can find links to some of those blogs to the right. Mr Stokley’s son, Mike, is one of our fallen heroes.
For those of us who follow these blogs, AS has in fact spoken about something relevant.
(((hugs))) So glad you got to meet Robert Stokely (and all the others)- as you know from the HomeTeam video, he is a truly phenomenal (sp) person -his whole family is. Our family has learned MUCH from them.
God bless you, A.S. - y’all are in my prayers always. Glad you had an enjoyable evening - you deserve it.
Bummer, AS - would have liked to meet you, but didn’t know you were there. Glad you got the chance to go. I really enjoyed the Conference.
It was great to finally meet you and your gorgeous bride (I can say that, my wife’s not to shabby either
) I’ll blog more about it later, my brain is fried!
I love trolls on my site.
To a latina, go fuck yourself and the byte you rode in on. Yep I said it, and to make it clear, go fuck yourself.
Good day
Well, given the choice between “high society” people and the list given by AS, it is a no-brainer. I would rather spend my time with AS and the Milbloggers than any high society freaks out there.
I am impressed with the Milbloggers because many of them have been there, protecting American freedoms rather than acting like little narcissistic idiots whose only goal in life is how do I draw attention to me.
But, AS, I am glad you and your wife met others at the conference. I read much from all of them, and am a bit envious that I am not able to make such an event. Would be something.
AS, fortunately, the people who care, know who you’re talking about. I’m very happy that you and your beloved were able to go to the conference.
The trollop is just a waste of minerals and water.
To a latina -
Why should any decent, rational person try to impress you?
You’re an irrrelevancy ….. you’re only noticeable in the sense of, like, being a pustulent pimple on your feculent ass!
Hey there.. Thank you for the email! I will find the book.. I’m usually pretty resourceful with such things. I’ll have to get your signature on it next year.. I’m not sure yet if I’ll be here or deployed.. but ..
It was great to meet you and your lovely wife.. you have a beautiful family.
Thanks for taking the time to talk to me and offer your words and advice. I have considered it a great deal and may be taking it! I will keep you posted.

You want relevance? You can’t handle relevance.
AFSister is a soldier’s angel and blogger
JR & Josie Salzman JR’s a milblogger, award-winning lumberjack, and a carpenter–and he lost his right arm and full use of his left hand in Iraq. His beautiful wife is the lady who has stood by him through all this.
Matty Burden is BlackFive, you dumbass.
Andi defines the term “Lady”. She put the whole conference together, secured funding and support, contacted media, found a location, etc, for the last two years. She is a truly gifted and amazing women.
Sean ‘Doc’ Dustman & wife, “Doc” blogs at Doc in the box (I personally think you’re too stupid to Google it, but I’m too lazy to link to it). Doc was a navy hospital corpsman–a medic–attached to a marine infantry company in Baghdad.
Bill Roggio is a milblogger cum embed who is smarter than most, and puts his own life on the line to tell the story of our soldiers without prejudice or agenda.
Michael Fumento is another milblogger and embed, who is smarter than most of the folks inside the outer loop.
They are not high society (except maybe Andi, because she could be a runway model–as could Mrs. Salzman) They did not get paid to attend the conference, they came and stayed on their own dime. These are a sampling of the people who have tried their damnedest to ensure that people get the truth about what we ask of our soldiers, that don’t practice yellow sensationalism or just grab for headlines, that tell the stories of those who sacrifice, and who have given of themselves in ways you’ll probably never know, or understand.
And as for Mr. Stokley, he’s a gold star father.
You are stupid. I hesitate to call you ignorant, because you don’t know, but you immediately assume that the author is trying to impress you. You’re reading his diary, essentially. If you want to comment on it, wonderful, but you ask really stupid questions. (preguntas estupido).
AS, the charity we were talking about at the conference is the yellow ribbon society. The Mrs. Has more info for me to send along.
Wait, I have to ask–
What did everyone do with their $25,000 speaking fees?
I paid off the MSM with my portion. They promised a turning of a new leaf….reporting the truth from downtown Ramadi!
Chuck -
Send whatever you got in an email. If they have a site include that too, I would gladly add it to my links section.
AS & Mrs AS - I wish we would have met at the conference. Didn’t even know you were there. Dangit. If you ever run into a couple from PGR by the name of Ann & Ted - they are awesome people and go to WR 2x a week. If you’d like a respite from the city they take soldiers and their families out to their horse farm in MD. If you’re interested in getting their info let me know. They are the best. I’m still sad we didn’t meet.
Toni,
You know everytime I saw you, I was in the midst of a conversation and didn’t want to be rude. I didn’t have AS on my tag, I wanted to keep my identity under the radar.
As I look at the comments on this story, it reminds me of a movie, released more than a few years ago, called, “Clueless”. But this is true of many Americans, NOT ALL! Some even commented here, not a smart move, somebody here was there to help them pull their head out. You have tried to your best, this is all we can ask of you.
Thank you, for your continual service to this Great Nation,
Grumpy
We seemed to have passed in the night, AS. My loss.
That said, dangit, if Andi was paying me $25K to moderate a panel, I seemed to have missed the check!
I’ll have stern words with her, I assure you!
latina… Chuck and AS have spoken for me. LOVE IT.
I cannot even tell you how THRILLED I was to meet you! Holy cow. After reading you for so long, following you through so many things, and to have you sneak up and say “Hi, I’m…. *whisper* AS” Well- let’s just say I could have fallen over, LOL. The two of you are just incredibly sweet, compassionate, humble and passionate as I had imagined, and your baby! OMG… talk about WONDERFUL. So incredibly sweet, precious, beautiful and engaging.
Mrs. AS- you are a beautiful woman in so many ways. It’s no wonder he loves you the way he does, and isn’t afraid to express it.
AS-
No kidding- I was truly honored to meet you. Since your nametag didn’t say AS on it, I never would have known who you were without the “I’m AS” introduction. I’m not good at hiding enthusiasm, in case you couldn’t tell, haha! Keep writing, and keep in touch!
Argghhh! Oops. I didn’t know what that check was for…Andi said make sure that it gets where it’s supposed to. So we bought beer with it.
Hey there.. lol.. You have funny commenters!
I will be linking you and getting back to you shortly.. for now though.. this soldier has to get back to Army life.
Well, HELL, Murdoc. That would explain why Maggie was so drunk- that can buy a LOT of beer.
I kept giving Maggie beer to shut her up but it just kept making her louder and louder…
Made it safe back to the land of milk and honey do’s, I don’t know how I missed you considering that I had been emailing you all day, what can I say, I’m a dork!
Should have tried tequila, Murdoc. I’ve heard it makes women’s clothes fall off.
heh
AS and Mrs AS - Maybe next year we’ll meet and by then your identity won’t need to be a secret. I’m happy you were there and were able to make connections with other milbloggers. With everything happening in your lives, I hope you had an enjoyable time. A little fun time is good and necessary.
